Rallye Around the Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Sunday, July 13th

What’s a Rallye? First, the spelling is right! A Rallye is a car trip with a driver and navigator who follow a route in a set of written instructions which they are given immediately prior to the trip. You’ll be in competition with your fellow club members to get the correct answers to questions about sites you’ll see or visit along the way. It’s fun, and no previous experience is necessary. This is not a “timed rallye”, so you’ll have plenty of time to see the sites at your leisure.

We’ll meet at 11:00 a.m. at the pavilion at Tinkers Creek State Park near the Streetsboro (Rt. 480) exit of the Ohio Turnpike. Bring along a snack while we kick the tires on each other’s cars. After some introductions, you and your navigator will receive the written instructions for the trip. Participants will be sent out at intervals of three to five minutes. The drive will take approximately 2 hrs. We’ll end up at a restaurant for a late lunch, prizes and fun. Cost is $10 per car. You’ll pay for your own meal at the restaurant. We should be on our way home by 3 p.m.

For safety reasons, you must have a driver and navigator. The navigator will be looking for clues while the driver concentrates on the road. Your navigator can be anyone – spouse, friend, relative. You may also have as many “assistant navigators” in the car as you wish.

Tinker’s Creek State Park, our starting point, is off Aurora-Hudson Rd. To get there, take the Frost Road exit of Rt. 480. Frost Rd. is the first exit west of the Ohio Turnpike. For those coming from the west (Twinsburg), turn left onto Frost Rd. For those coming from the east (Streetsboro), turn right. Turn left at the first light (Aurora-Hudson Rd.) and right at the next stop sign (continuation of Aurora-Hudson Rd.) The entrance to the park and parking lot is about one mile on the left.
