MBCA Old Cars Fun Day Aug. 23rd
Join us for our annual Old Cars Fun Day featuring Mercedes-Benz of the 1950s, 60s, & 70s hosted by Bill Verduin and Dick Gortz. This popular event will be held on Saturday August 23rd from 11-4 at the Gortz residence 34850 Solon Rd. , Solon. Any year Mercedes-Benz is welcome. This is a relaxed, casual event complete with lunch and refreshments.

The Pittsburgh section has invited us to join them in a dealership tour at Contemporary Motors, the authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer in nearby Erie, PA, on Saturday, August 2nd. Take advantage of a great opportunity to learn more about how both you and your car respond in an emergency situation in a controlled, low-speed environment. After lunch, our defensive driving course will be transformed in to a fun autocross so you can continue to hone your newly-found skills. Admission is $20 per person including lunch--and teen drivers are free with a participating adult!!!

Gemutlichkeit 2007 registration deadline
Gemutlichkeit 2007 presented by the Northern Ohio Mercedes-Benz Dealers is approaching quickly but it is not too late for you to register for the event! Better yet, the late fees will be waived for Western Reserve Section members if you register prior to June 7th. The dates for the event are June 9-12 and the host hotel is the Bertram Inn in Aurora. Activities include a concours, defensive driving, the Geauga Lake autocross, performance driving at Nelson Ledges, banquets, road rally, ladies' tech session, and plenty of social time to meet new friends and to get reacquainted with old friends. This is an event you won't want to miss!

MBCA Concours Judging School May 12th
CONCOURS JUDGING SCHOOL MAY 12, 2007
The Pittsburgh Section will hold a Judging School & Seminar at Bobby Rahal Motorcars Route 19, Wexford PA. Directions will be provided to all that register. The classroom and hands on instruction sessions will be held indoors so plan to attend Rain or Shine!
We are fortunate to again have Pete Lesler (Western Reserve) as the instructor for this seminar Pete will also be the Chief Judge for our StarTrack 2007 Concours d’Elegance at The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix July 14-15, 2007. Pete is one the most experienced car show judges/instructors in the Mercedes-Benz Club of America. Pete will share many years of showing and judging THE MERCEDES-BENZ with you. This seminar is designed for Novice through Show Class Judges. Some of our experienced local judges will assist Pete with the instruction. This class is being offered to all MBCA members and non-members. This is a great opportunity for our local members to take advantage of this learning experience without travel.
If you have attended this M-B Seminar before or have judging experience this will be continued education for you. If you have entered cars in the past and are curious as to how they are judged, what the class breakdown means, this will be an information school for you. If you would like to become a Car Show Judge, this seminar was designed for you. We hope to recruit many judges and scribes for our National Convention in July at The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix from this seminar. It is possible to cover all this information in one day, but a full day. The session is scheduled from 9AM to 12 Noon, Lunch till 1 PM and wrap up at 3 PM.
The Registration Fee of $20.00 will be waived to all MBCA members, this covers all material and lunch. Certificates of completion (suitable for framing) will be presented to all registrants completing the full course. If your schedule requires you to leave early, you may leave at any point. PLEASE REGISTER AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. The class size is limited.

MBCA Great Lakes Regional Autocross & Defensive Driving Sun. May 6th

Defensive Driving
In the morning, you’ll take a defensive driving course from our qualified instructors. You’ll learn proper seat and mirror adjustment, steering techniques, braking, foot position, tire patch theory and car dynamics.
Then jump in your car, and on a wide open parking lot, you’ll drive with an instructor at your side through various courses of cones. You’ll practice avoiding an obstacle in the road, proper hard braking technique, and steering through a slalom to feel your cars dynamics. At the end of the day, you’ll be awarded a certificate of completion. If you are planning to go to Gemütlichkeit, StarTrack, or Tri-O-Rama later this year, you’ll be exempt from taking the mandatory defensive driving there.
Autocross
Later in the morning and afternoon you’ll put your newly honed skills to the test. We connect up the various defensive driving courses, add a few cones to make it interesting, and turn you lose (with a performance driving instructor, if you wish) to navigate the course in the best time that makes you comfortable. This is fun for everyone, with age or sex no barrier. Trophies will be awarded for the best times in class. Early dinner after the event at a local restaurant for those who wish to stay. Pay your own tab.
Who should come? Members and immediate family who believe they can improve their driving skills with assistance from qualified instructors. Does that leave anyone out?
Young drivers are particularly welcome. To encourage teens to come, there’s no charge for fully licensed drivers between the ages of 16 and 20, when accompanied by an adult member.
What does it cost? $15 per member or guest – includes lunch Ages 16-20 free.

First Ladies National Historic Site Tour
Judy Brehm has arranged a tour of the First Ladies National Historic site which is located near the Mckinley Grand Hotel (site of the holiday party). This site is a museum, a library, and an institution of learning.
The tour is scheduled for Saturday Jan 6th at 2:30 p.m. and admission is $7.00.
